Year 4 are Evacuated to Gressenhall!

We have had a fabulous day at Gressenhall Rural Life Museum. Year 4 have been very enthusiastic about everything we achieved.

We started off in the Farmhouse looking at the artefacts that would have been used during WW2 before venturing into the Anderson Shelter for a morning snack. When we came out we encountered a Pivet Hawk Moth crawling along the garden path. We stopped to investigate and found it really fascinating.

After looking at various parts of farming, piglets, Suffolk Punch horses and farming machinery we went on a walk. The children followed maps and were great at pinpointing where we were. It was so lovely hearing and watching the children observing the wildlife around them. We thought about how evacuees must have felt when they  ventured into the countryside experiencing their new surroundings.

After lunch and a visit to the shop to spend our money, we looked at an exhibition about the Women’s Land Army and went into the 1950’s room.

Before going back to school we explored the flower and vegetable gardens as well as the school room.

The children really impressed Mrs Budgett and Mr V, who very kindly came and supported the class, with their enthusiasm and behaviour. They looked amazing in their outfits, thank you for supporting them in ensuring  they looked the part.
