What an enormous privilege for the whole school to hear about a man called Tom who fought in the First World War. Tom wrote a postcard to his sister before he unfortunately died on the battlefields in Passchendaele, Belgium in 1917. The postcard never reached his sister, it was discovered in an antique, memorabilia shop 100 years later. The person who discovered it decided it needed to reach Tom’s family. After a lot of research, it reached Tom’s great nephew, Rev Robin!
Thank you Rev Robin, we felt really honoured to hear your story and see the original postcard as well as the model you have created. It has really helped us to understand a little more about this Remembrance Week.
