Local Hardship Fund
A local hardship charity was set-up about 300 years ago for the needy of one of our local hamlets and recently the Charity Commission has allowed the scope of the charity to broaden in order to make more meaningful use of the available funds. The charity may now benefit the needy of any parish within the Upper Wensum Benefice. i.e. applicants must be resident in any of the following villages: Great or Little Ryburgh, Testerton, Colkirk, Oxwick, Pattesley, Horningtoft, Whissonsett, Brisley, Gateley, Shereford, Dunton with Doughton.
The Trustees would like our three local Primary Schools at Colkirk, Brisley, and Stibbard to be aware that the aims of this Charity include the needs of pupils and their families (who are resident in the listed villages).
Any resulting application will be considered by the trustees on a case-by-case basis. There is no specific parameter to the financial range feasible, except to note that the fund is intended for modest-scale objectives, essential needs critical to welfare or education, such as uniform, shoes, laptop, or school trip. Any funding issued should be considered by the recipient as a one-off for a specific need.
Applications – no formal format but with a brief written outline of the need in question – may be submitted by parents either via the school office or direct to Rev’d Stapleford at the following email address upperwensumrector@btinternet.com or by postal address as follows:
