In science this week, we have been exploring why it is important to clean our teeth.
We have set up an investigation to find out how the enamel of our teeth is affected by: fizzy drinks, tea, acid and pure tap water. We thought about putting teeth into each of these substances to see what happened to them- but we didn’t have any spare teeth- so we used eggs instead. (The shell of an egg is very similar to the enamel on our teeth.)
We also wanted to find out if toothpaste really helps to protect our teeth, so we covered one egg in toothpaste and added it to another pot containing tea. We have made predictions about what will happen- but we will have to wait until next week to find out!
